Mission and Objectives
The Indigo Run Community Owners Association Community Relations Committee (CRC) is responsible for all of the Indigo Run community-sponsored events. Our mission is to provide activities for everyone at all ages in our community and to keep our community informed on a timely basis of all happenings.
We are responsible for planning, organizing, communicating and supporting all major social events, monthly seminars, social/entertainment programs, and the annual owners meeting each December. We are also responsible for community communications, and we specify the rules and procedures for the use of Indigo Hall. Finally, we monitor the effectiveness of the community website.
The CRC is organized into projects that handle one event or activity. Projects may have a designated coordinator or “champion” who has the responsibility for coordinating the event or activity with support from volunteers and the rest of the Community Relations Committee. This reduces the burden on our members and volunteers and lets them get involved in those areas in which they are most interested. We want to have fun so meetings and bureaucracy are kept to a minimum.
Our sub-committees are:
Major events - Oyster Roast/Spring Picnic (March or April); Labor Day Picnic (September); Annual Meeting (December); and special events, if required. Each event may have separate “champion”.
Seminar programs – monthly, except July and August and months when there is a major event. (January, February, March or April, May, October, November). A variety of subjects as long as they are not sales pitches!
Children’s programs - Easter Egg Hunt; Halloween party; Christmas party.
Christmas Decorations – We design them. Maintain them, put them up and take them down with the help of the COA staff.
Community Communications – Newsletters (printed & online); community and resident happenings; announcements including composition and editing; surveys; bulletin boards.
Announcements/Newsletters distribution - We currently deliver printed announcements and newsletters to mail slots beneath each mail box. With the launch of our new web site, we are expecting the volume of printed materials to decrease dramatically. If not, we will continue the current method which involves several “routes”, each located near to a volunteer’s home.
Social / Entertainment Programs – usually in the evening, theme based, refreshments and / or entertainment may be provided by attendees. These are “for the fun of it” events.
Indigo Run Hall rules & procedures – How Indigo Hall can be used, by residents. Administration, scheduling, etc. will be handled by COA staff but we may be asked to address any exceptions.
Indigo Run Community Owners Association Web Site – Monitoring, perhaps surveying, the effectiveness of our web site and its contribution to the level of excellence rating for our community.
We would really like everyone to get involved. We are planning on having a lot of fun this year. If you are interested in coordinating or volunteering for an event, please send an email to the Community Relations Committee chairperson, Joe Buckingham ( or 843-278-1835). Give us your name, phone number and email address. Also, please let us know which event(s) you are interested in and whether you would like to coordinate the event or volunteer for the event. Thanks in advance for your help!
NOTE: If we can’t find volunteers for an activity, we’ll cancel it for the current year. |
