As we transition to a great new outsourcing arrangement to
provide the professional services for tennis at Indigo Run it is necessary to
give the new company the rules and regulations for our club. The Tennis
Committee and Mike O'Regan put together the current set of rules and
regulations in 2008 and this is what will be provided to the new professional
service company for administration purposes. These rules are attached
below for your convenience.
** Please also
remember USTA registered teams may pre-book one practice session per week
(two courts) through the pro or Tennis Committee for the applicable
season. USTA home game match courts will also be pre-booked for the
season once a USTA match schedule is available. Booking courts for
social and all other tennis may be done three days in advance by calling the
pro shop at the Golden Bear. Additionally, court playability during
inclement weather periods will be determined by the contractor and provided
to the pro shop for your convenience.
Golden Bear Tennis
Club
Tennis Rules and
Guidelines for USTA Teams
Effective August 1,
2008
1) All captains and
co-captains must be members of the Golden Bear Tennis Club (GBTC).
2) Captains should
refer to the USTA for all information about USTA pre-registration,
registration and deadlines for league play. (WWW.USTA.COM)
3) For each tennis
season all captains must submit a tentative roster to the Director of Tennis
prior to USTA team registration. The Director of Tennis will then
publish to all GBTC members a tentative list of Indigo Run teams for that tennis
season. The notice will contain team captain contact info and will be
published via e-mails/bulletin boards.
* Any GBTC club member
that desires to be on a listed team must contact the appropriate captain
within two weeks of the issuance of the notice. At that time captains
should discuss with any potential members the intended team format.
Captains are not required to accept GBTC members on a team where the member's
USTA rating is below the team's USTA rating. Conflicts regarding GBTC
rules should be resolved by the Director of Tennis. Should an
established team captain and some of the team's GBTC members consider moving
the team outside the community due to the rules, the captain should discuss
this situation with the Director of Tennis.
* The captain must
give GBTC club members priority over outside members. Outside members
are only permitted when there are an insufficient number of GBTC
members.
* Captains must
attempt to play GBTC members the minimum of matches (typically two) to qualify
them for the next USTA playoff level. A player's availability
should be accommodative to the season's needs for this requirement to be
fulfilled. Additionally the size of a team and number of scheduled
matches may impact the captain's ability of playing all members twice.
* Any team captains or
members found not acting in the best interest of Indigo Run and/or their
specific team may be subject to disciplinary action per the Director of
Tennis and General Manager.
4) Final rosters are
expected no later than 10 days before first match, at which time, all team
schedules must be submitted through the Director of Tennis. Fees will
be collected by the team captain (for all non-members), and submitted to the
Director of Tennis. The Director of Tennis should be advised of players
that are added to the roster during the season before the player plays in
league competition or practices with the team.
5) A fee of $25.00 per
month per non-member, for the duration of league play and practices, will be
collected by the captain and submitted to the Director of Tennis (captains
and Director can decide on payment schedule).
6) The $25.00 per
month fee will cover one team practice per week and all home matches. Players
missing the assigned team practice cannot practice at another time under this
fee schedule. Non-members will pay the fee for each team on which they play.
At all other times, non-members will pay the normal guest fee of $8.00.
7) A maximum of 9
teams may play out of Indigo Run during any USTA season. In the case
that there over nine teams attempting to register priority will be given to
teams consisting of the most GBTC members.
8) Teams can schedule
a practice once each week for a period of one month before league play and/or
one month following if they qualify for post season tournaments (i.e. HHI
playoffs, USTA state or sectionals etc).
9) Teams will be allowed two practice courts per week at a
time coordinated by the Director of Tennis. When needed, one additional
court may be reserved at the assigned practice time, in a member's name, to
accommodate additional players on the roster. The third court may be reserved
using the normal reservation system.
10) Captains are requested to cancel reservations, including team practice
courts, if unable to use them by calling the golf shop.
11) Captains shall inform all team members of all Indigo Run rules and
regulations, and are responsible for their conduct and behavior.
12) The starting time for all matches is 2:30pm. Courts are maintained from
6am to 8am and from noon to 2pm and are unavailable for play or practice
during these times.
13) If it is determined that a court is deemed unplayable, due to hazardous
conditions, play shall be cancelled and the Director will inform the Captain.
Please confirm your team bookings by calling the golf shop well in advance.
14) All rules and fees are subject to change at the discretion of Club
management.
