A resident of South Carolina is required to have a valid South Carolina driver’s license when operating a vehicle in this state. Indigo Run Rules and Regulations require a valid drivers license when operating a vehicle within Indigo Run.
People requesting commercial passes, decals or monthly domestic passes authorized by a property owner are required to show a valid drivers license. We are finding out that some domestic workers cannot get a South Carolina license or renew an expired license. These people are not allowed to operate a motor vehicle within Indigo Run. They are turned around at the gate unless someone in the vehicle has a valid license and are allowed by the vehicle owner to drive.
The Security Department will continue checking license and will still do our best to allow domestic workers to get to their jobs if at all possible.
Some other reminders from Security:
Main Gate:
When you are passing through the main gate, please slow down. This is for the safety of the officer on duty. Once the officer can see your decal or pass, he/she will wave you through, eliminating the need for you to come to a complete stop. If you are not waved through, you will be required to stop.
Guest passes:
Please do not stop at the gate and ask the officer to write down names of people you want guest passes for, especially if it entails more than one pass. This causes a backup of traffic at the entrance. You can either call us in advance of your guests arrivals and we will make up the passes or you can hand deliver your written list to the gate and the officer will process them.
Commercial access fees:
All individuals, including guests and friends of residents who provide services for a fee or for profit are required to pay for usage of the roads within Indigo Run. This offsets the cost of repairing and maintaining our roads and ultimately saves you additional assessment fees. Some residents are still calling in guest passes for commercial workers. This is clearly against our Access Policy. The IRCOA Board of Directors passed the rule and Security is charged with enforcing it. If you have a question concerning passes, please call security.
Check Your Hot Water Heater:
There have been over six incidences with rupturing hot water heaters manufactured by State Duron over this past year that have caused “extensive” damage to homes in our community. The owners of some of these homes where out of town, other homes affected were in the process of being “sold”. Security was able to gain entrance to many of these homes and “cut off” the water tank. On the others, the “key holder” was contacted. If your home does not have an outside shutoff, you should have one installed. Please keep in mind it only takes a few minutes for your carpet and furniture to be “ruined” by water.
Traffic Enforcement:
A traffic survey was completed recently by the Security Department. The largest problems noted were speeding and the disregard for “stop” and “do not enter” signs. The Security Department will issue serious enforcement violations in these areas.
The Board of Directors has approved a fine schedule for traffic violation notices. After a violation notice has been issued, the General Manager will notify the violator by letter (if the violation carries a warning or a fine). These violations will not increase your insurance rates or affect your driving record with the State of South Carolina. A Copy of the fine schedule may be obtained from the COA office or the Chief of Security. These violations will be tracked and habitual violators will then be issued a State Citation by Security. Security has the option to issue a “State Uniform Citation”, which involves a court trial. A State Citation WILL affect your insurance and driving record. If you have any questions, please contact the Chief of Security.
